COVID 19, uma doença sistêmica

Resumo


A COVID 19 é uma doença complexa, multissistêmica e que evolui em fases cujos sintomas e prognóstico depende da fase em que o paciente se encontra. Embora a característica clínica fundamental da doença por COVID-19 seja respiratória, também existem complicações neurológicas, renais, digestivas, cardíacas e em outros órgãos, sendo relacionado com a presença de receptores para ACE2 em tais órgãos. Ainda existem dúvidas se todos os sintomas da COVID 19 são secundários à inflamação ou se pode existir um componente de invasão viral nos órgãos com expressão de ACE2. Ante esse cenário de incerteza clínica e conseqüentemente terapêutica em estados graves, é importante o diagnóstico precoce em estágios iniciais e tentar evitar a progressão da doença com tratamento adequado.
